phew, this album is a heavy hitter. punching way above its weight

i'll be transparent and say i've never listened to music like this before - maybe that sounds really naive, but allow me. i've tried subsequently looking for music that sounds like this album and i can't find anything like it. it's scratching such a deep itch.

i was first introduced to 'HARDSTYLE' by Fred Again.. on one of his livestreams and was addicted to the cinematic, wide sound the boys were able to capture in this song. it just sounds epic. if you have yet to listen to this album, i'd definitely recommend starting here - it's just a fantastically performed and sung song. Kevin's voice is so unique, it's character pulls through on every track in this album - and it's addictive.

what upsets me most about this album is how damn short it is. i've listened to this project so many times always wishing there was more. luckily the rest of their discography is pretty solid, but this album is easily the standout.

in october i was lucky enough to see them play live in brixton - the energy was electric, their performance was better live than the recordings. i had a chat with them, got a mandatory picture - i honestly believe they're going to grow and get picked up - just fantastic band.

'CAREDBRAH' is another highlight on this album, it shares the same cinematic quality that 'HARDSTYLE' does - the production is tight, almost shoegaze-y, the vocal delivery is strong, powerful and the lyricism is great - you can feel the pain Kevin feels in this song towards this person he once knew - exemplifying this class struggle.

the whole album feels like a nostalgia trip and matched with this wide soundstage, cinematic theme across the album just perfectly encapsulated SHADY NASTY's ability to tell a story. so while im upset this album is short, it certainly is sweet.
